Mr. Vinikour’s performing presence was one of intense
concentration. ... his body was in quiet repose while his fingers did the work
with utmost efficiency. The result was a performance of almost religious
grandeur.”

Friday, Feb 7, Catacoustic Consort will
host an extraordinary event. After the
abrupt cancellation of the previously scheduled performer less than a week
before the event, another great harpsichordist will step into his place. Jory Vinikour is recognized as one of
the outstanding harpsichordists of his generation. A highly diversified career
brings him to the world’s most important festivals and concert halls as recital
and concerto soloist. His discography is
extensive, and includes specialties in Bach and Rameau—his Complete Harpsichord Works of Rameau was
nominated for a Grammy in 2012. He was
the harpsichord performer on the soundtrack to the movie Jefferson in Paris, and he has recorded with Cecilia Bartoli and
Anne Sofie von Otter, among many others.

Catacoustic’s Artistic Director Annalisa
Pappano will also perform on the rarely heard pardessus de viole, the smallest
member of the viola da gamba family. She
is one of the greatest masters of this instrument in the United States, so it’s
always an enormous treat to hear her. She
will play a piece by Alexandre de Villeneuve, a very rarely heard composer from
18th century France.
Individual tickets are $25 general, $10 student. Children 12 and
under are always free. Tickets are available at the door, in advance by calling
513.772.3242, or at www.catacoustic.com.
